Not gone yet

I'm still in Dublin, should be packing in anticipation of a Sunday morning departure. I have said my goodbyes, and now I'm mostly drinking wine and going to meetings.
Meanwhile, the play that Simp wrote is playing in town*, and he's readying himself to do the live video feed for it from Wednesday. He's understandably preoccupied. I'm confused by the theatre types he's suddenly surrounded by. And terribly proud, obviously. The opening last night was a vaguely illustrious affair, which I passed catching glimpses of people I vaguely recognised from the telly. Actors are a strange bunch, but the nice thing is that it's easy to explain to them what a non-operational NGO does: I just tell them (when they ask about my forthcoming trip) that I'll be like the Arts Council. Theatre people know all about the Arts Council.

I will miss Dublin, because I've grown so used to recognising nearly everybody I see here. I love Dublin. I do think that's a good reason to be leaving.

*I've tried very hard to make this a link, but it's not happening... this is where my tecchie boyfriend will be handy. Try this in the meantime: www.panpantheatre.com and click on the oedipus link. The copy is dreadful mind. Show's great though.
