This is a perfunctory post, intended to ensure that I don't in any way slander the good name of Conradh na Gaeilge. After a disastrous opening class with a teacher who inspired rage and self-hatred in me, I called up and effected a change of teachers. It involved moving up a level, which was daunting but preferable.
My new teacher is spot on. He's fun, he's relevant, he likes people. Sure, he's lazy: it's very easy to be a lazy language teacher. I know I always was. But that one disastrous class made me see very clearly how many things are very much worse than laziness in a teacher.
So I'm happy learning the gaeilge now. And I heartily recommend it.
